A Thank You Card...

Recently, a friend of my Mother was very kind to give me a gift. I wanted to thank her. Here's the card I made for her. I am working on re-creating this card, along with different color and shape variations. This is a kind-of sneak-peak. You will see my final creations in my Etsy shop.

I made this card using premium matte and metallic cardstock. The metallic cardstock was in a gold linen texture. It actually worked out great with the color scheme. It became a very bold statement. The gold paper discs have a matte sheen that they can almost pass as real metal. They are that convincing.

Father's Day Fun...

Father's Day was this past Sunday and of course, I made a card for Dad. The gift was not your typical gift of a tie, car stuff or gardening equipment, but a 12 year old bottle of Knappogue Castle Irish Malt Whiskey, aged 12 years. I must say he was delighted!

Dad likes things simple. For the card, I used Kraft paper. I then worked with greens and blues to finish the look. His favorite color is blue. (His first car was a light blue '65 Mustang).  I decided to match the gift to the card using postal-wrap. It was a roll a of kraft paper with a thick quality. It worked nicely with the tube shape. I covered the seams in decorative contact paper, cut to roughly 1" strips. To finish off, I die-cut a scalloped circle, in green, for the top and added a coordinating heart. I couldn't leave the bottom of the gift unfinished, so I die-cut a piece of the kraft postal wrap in a circle and affixed it to the bottom.

Natural Inspirations...

As I try to come up with new designs for my cards, one place I love to look is to nature. It's perfect in every way. The colors that occur in nature are so vivid and complementary, they just can't be overlooked...

Engagement Congratulation Card...

My cousin got engaged recently and I wanted to congratulate her. I decided to make her a card. From what I remember, she likes purple, so I went ahead and used that as the inspiration color. I used dotted washi tape in a contrasting apricot tone for an interesting color pop. Kraft paper and newsprint was also incorporated to create a cozy, non-formal feel. A small hint of sparkle was applied to the stamped "Congratulations" cover greeting area. I hope she likes it. :)

You check out my creation below...

I stamped their initials to a kraft paper circle. L+B

I had to embellish the envelope, of-course!
